My First Class Project Using Stop-Motion Animation

Currently I’m taking a college course in Final Cut Pro Video. I’ve written a few plays and a couple of sitcom pilots and I wanted to learn about some behind-the-camera techniques just in case I have to produce my scripts myself (ya know I’m a do-it-all kinda guy).

I signed up for this class right after New Year’s and I was gung-ho about mastering the craft of cinematography. I entered the art lab on the first day of class to discover that the room was filled with Macs. I had never touched a Macintosh before. Heck, I had barely seen one! All of my former college art friends have all told me that in order to really get into graphic arts, I was gonna need to get into using a Mac. Well, here was my chance.

How do you cut this thing on?

And where is the CD eject button?

Oh.

This is gonna be different.

Anyway, our first project was to be completed using iMovie. We were learning rhythm in class and were instructed to make a short video using still images to exhibit that.

You can witness the results of my project below. Please bear in mind that it’s a very rough cut. I’ve never used iMovie before and I’ve never attempted stop-motion animation either. I just wanted to share this with you (because I’m an exhibitionist type of fellow). :)

Be gentle. And if there are any haterz out there reading/watching this? This video is a good reason to hate me. It sucks….but I know that already. :D

ADDANAC CITY On The Villain’s Corner

Some of you may already know, but I was invited to participate on the Villain’s Corner podcast show last Friday (01-15-10). I had enormous fun answering questions about ADDANAC CITY and webcomics in general with quite a few talented cartoonists.

They made me feel welcome and superbly comfortable while I was there. The Villain’s Corner broadcasts a new round-table discussion every Friday night at 10pm (eastern). So if you get a chance, tune ‘em in.

You can listen to my guest spot on the widget below!
