My wife gets to enjoy the unique pleasure of getting to read my comics sometimes months before you all do. A few weeks ago, I showed her this one in anticipation of gauging her initial reaction.

I knew the punchline was gonna receive a bulging of the eyes from her, but I didn’t know whether she was gonna be offended or just find it funny. I was pleased when she went “Oh, wow!”, gave the expected eye-bulge, then proceeded to crack up laughing.

She’s always shaking her head over whatever antics Hank has gotten himself into for whichever day. I can’t imagine Hank actually going this far, but the mere thought of it humored me.

And before any SPCA people get all uptight about this, just bear in mind, this is only a comic strip. No animals were hurt, maimed, or otherwise injured in the creation of this comic.

I am personally an avid animal-lover and I’ve had pets all throughout my life. They all lived long and fulfilling lives (except for my goldfish who died from drinking too much water).

I hope you enjoy this strip, but don’t dwell on it too hard. Remember, Hank was that kid who also chased this lady’s cat off a cliff one time. Evidently, he’s not as much of an animal lover as we are. Pray for him.
