I’m The Winner of Some Aedre Art!
This is something neat I received a couple of months back, and I know I should have posted this way before now, but I have a problem balancing being incredibly busy and being tremendously lazy. It’s a hard cross to bear, but I carry it somewhat well.
Waaaay back during the Halloween season, a webcomic and social media friend of mine hosted a Caption Contest on her Aedre’s Firefly website. Through sheer good luck, I was named the winner of the contest!
To see what my winning entry was, click here.
As the winner of this contest, my prize was to be some original artwork created by Jande, the writer/artist of Aedre’s Firefly herself. I love reading this innovative and emotion-churning series, so I asked Jande if she could draw a picture of her flagship character for me. What I received in the mail was the beautiful and imaginative work of art that you see below:
I truly feel that Jande outdid herself on this piece. It’s colorful and is certainly a beauty to behold. I wish you all could view the actual piece in person.
If you’re not a regular reader of Jande‘s series, Aedre’s Firefly, then you are definitely missing out on an epic of a story that contains good, solid writing combined with eye-popping artwork that improves and progresses with each weekly installment.
This is all my opinion, and I could be wrong because her tale is nowhere near being complete and author Jande provides twists and turns constantly throughout the series, so I cannot assuredly determine where this long-form story is headed. That is entirely fine by me, because I am enjoying the trip greatly.
Aedre is a young girl who possesses very low self-esteem and feels that the whole world is against her. She doesn’t know who to trust or where to seek aid, but evidently her parents and most authority figures are perhaps not the ones she should place her trust in. There are also other fantastical characters in the series that you need to meet.
I’m telling you, Aedre will steal your heart, and you won’t help by root for her as her adventure and story grows. The comic updates each Wednesday and Jande gives you your money’s worth.
Jande is always supportive of her fellow webcomic creators and she goes well above and beyond for her readers also.
Her site is filled with tutorials and extras which always makes it a pleasure to visit. So if you get a chance, please stop by Aedre’s Firefly and stay awhile. Aedre (as well as Jande) would love the company.
Thanks again for this stupendous work of art, Jande. I love it!!!!

Sweet!
Thanks, Michael!
Jealous
And that's just the way I like you. Envy keeps you on your toes.
@Bearman: I'll make one for you as soon as you win one of my caption contests. I promise. ;`)
@George: Keep him hungry, George. ;`D
Always knew you were a talented artist. When I retired in 2011, I still had the drawing you did for me back in the 80's. Proud of your success.
Thank you so much, Mrs. Eanes! You were one of my most influential teachers. You taught me to believe in myself, never give up, and to also broaden my horizons so I would be a wiser, more inquisitive person. A lot of who I am today stems from your teachings. Thank you.
Congrats on the win. I love my original artwork from Jande. You really nailed your review and description of Aedre's Firefly too. I wouldn't want all my other friends to read this and get jealous but personally I think you and Jande might be the two people who are the very best at what you do.
♥
It makes me happy to know you're enjoying the sketch of Aedre I made for you, George. And so many compliments on my art and Aedre's Firefly I'm afraid it might all go to my head and I'll soon be putting on airs. ;`)
But seriously, thank you for all your kind words and for the awesome guest comic you made for me featuring Hank.
I love the way you have the sketch posed in your photo, too. Very sweet. ♥
