ADDANAC CITY & I Are Nominated For A Prestigious Literary Award
Every now and then, I get caught by surprise. I will occasionally Google myself (stop laughing) just to see if there’s anything being said about me or ADDANAC CITY that I may have missed or may not be aware of.
Mostly, not too much changes, but every so often, I’ll run up on a link that mentions me that I had no clue existed. Well, this happened to me a couple of weeks ago.
I clicked on a link that made mention of me creating AC, and it led me to a website that informed me that AC (and myself) are nominated for a pretty prestigious literary award that is to be presented during an awards show in New York City this September.
I was like, “whaaaaaat?”
The official event is known as the African American Literary Awards, and they nominate a number of African American authors, writers, and other professionals who are involved in the literary field.
The African American Literary Award Show (AALAS) is an entertainment event production and marketing company with a focus on writers and authors.
The AALAS produces an annual Literary Awards Show to recognize, honor, celebrate and promote the outstanding achievements and contributions that African-American authors and writers make to the publishing, arts and entertainment industries worldwide.
I do not know exactly how I became nominated, but I am very grateful to receive such an honor. ADDANAC CITY is being nominated for “Best Comic Strip” along with other very talented creators such as Frank Jordan (of Company Man), Michelle Billingsley (of Joe!), and Jerry Kraft (of Mama’s Boyz). It is indeed an honor to be in the company of these creative and enterprising folks.
Voting is taking place now, and will continue through early September, I suppose. Besides just having a category for Best Comic Strip, there are plenty of other literary categories to select from. These categories include:
Biography / Memoir
Short Stories / Anthologies
Blogger of the Year
Break-out Author of the Year
Author of the Year (Male & Female)
Independent Publisher of the Year
Publisher of the Year
So, if you would like to cast your vote for any or all of these categories, and support your favorite nominees, I strongly beseech and urge you to do so.
You may start casting your votes by clicking this link. There is nothing to sign up for or any obligations to make. Thank you so much in advance!
Previous African American Literary Awards winners have include such notable creators as Eric Jerome Dickey, Blair Underwood, Aaron MacGruder, Steve Harvey, Patti LaBelle, Zane, Jerry Craft, Walter Mosley, Finesse Mitchell, Angela Bassett, Courtney B. Vance, Nikki Giovanni, and many, many others.
The 2013 African American Literary Awards Show will be held at the Landmark on The Park, 160 Central Park West, New York, NY 10023 on September 26, 2013.
