Hank Art by Christopher Williams of Waldorf, MD

I went to college with this dude. He’s a phenomenal airbrush artist. We’d made a lotta chedda doing artwork on the side back in school. I would love to see more of his work.

Hank Art by Dalfonzo Williams of South Boston, VA

I met this guy when I was speaking to his art class at my town’s local high school. He’s very talented, so I asked him to draw his rendition of Hank and Christie.

Fan Art by Robert Matejcek of "Spilled Ink Cartoons"

I got an email within the past week or so from Robert Matejcek. He informed me that he was a fellow cartoonist and that he enjoyed reading ADDANAC CITY. He also asked if it was okay if we did a link exchange. Since I’m always eager to help out a new creator (and it helps to spread the word about ol’ Hank, too), I agreed.

We’ve been keeping in touch since then. I checked out his amusing site and I love his colors and character design.

Robert was kind enough to send me this really cool Fan Art that you see above. I got a kick out of it so I decided to share it with you guys. Now if I can get him to bless me with a full-fledged guest-strip (hint-hint, Robert). :)

If you get a chance, please go say hi to Robert and tell ‘em you saw his stuff on AC.

ADDANAC CITY Fan Art by Stripy-Artist

Fan Art by Stripy-Artist

A couple of days ago, I was sent this neat piece of artwork from Stripy-Artist, a budding cartoonist I met on Twitter. I think it’s rather cool. Let’s all help support our young artists as they continue practicing and honing their craft. They’re gonna be the creators of tomorrow soon.

Thanks, Stripy-Artist!!!

More ADDANAC CITY Fan Art…

Hank's Dad art by Antoine Gagnon

Hank's Dad art by Antoine Gagnon

I love to see various artists’ renditions of Hank and the other characters from my comic strip ADDANAC CITY. Every cartoonist has their own style, so it’s interesting to see how they view the strip’s cast.

This pic was created by Antoine Gagnon of The Drunken Fools webcomic. Every Friday, he picks a webcomic character to draw in his own unique style. A few weeks ago he chose Mr. Addanac and give him the official Drunken Fools treatment. Thanks, Antoine! I’m diggin’ it.

Hank art by Hans

Hank art by Hans

I received a second piece of Fan Art today which really surprised me. It was sent by a young cartoonist named Hans. The surprise is due to the fact that Hans and I have had a rather turbulent recent history. We’ve exchanged heated words over the debate of ADDANAC CITY’s creative validity.

But like the East Coast/West Coast beef that plagued the hip-hop scene for a while a few years back, Hans and I appear to have reached an amicable truce. I have no problem with his opinions and I feel that we have a healthy respect for what the other does. As a peace offering, he blessed me with this drawing of Hank commemorating his desire to see an ADDANAC CITY movie. I can’t wait to see one too!

Hans is practicing his craft and, little by little, he’s been bringing his ‘A’ game to the drawing table. I hope to see him with his own original comic strip soon where he can showcase his talent and grow. Good luck to you, Hans!

Hank Fan Art

Fan Art by MICHAEL W., age 9 of Missouri

This awesome Fan Art of Hank was sent to me by 9 year old Michael W of Missouri. His mom runs the blog of Hmm….Sweet, Splendid Wisdom which covers just about everything fun, entertaining, and informative that you would wanna know.

I’ve heard that Michael is a big Hank fan and that he loves certain strips (I’m sure Mom doesn’t allow him to read all of the crazy goings-on that occur in ADDANAC CITY). :)

Thanks, Michael, for the artwork! Keep drawing and, who knows, I may be sending in fan art to your comic one day.

FAN ART By Aidan Casserly of “Scapula”

HANK meets SCAPULA by Aidan Casserly

HANK meets SCAPULA by Aidan Casserly

Project Wonderful is a useful place sometimes. It’s not making me a millionaire or anything but, every now and then, I see an ad for a comic that just stands out to me. I can’t help myself, so I just go a’clickin’ to see if the comic is as good as it’s advertising budget. :)

One comic that I ran into via this method was Aidan Casserly’s Scapula. I was very impressed with the art and the writing is funny to a guy like me with a warped sense of humor.

I was pleasantly surprised while spending a Sunday afternoon sipping lemonade with no lemons and throwing rocks at squirrels (small ones, thank you very much) when I received an email from Aidan. It contained this extremely cool drawing of Hank meeting Scapula! I really liked it and I wanted share it with you guys!

Now go show Aidan and Scapula some of that Addanac love. :D

I just received these drawings hot off the press from cartoonist extraordinaire, David LaMason of the “Unbearable Bears” webcomic! I was so blown away by cool Hank looks in these pics that I had to post the penciled version as well as the colored masterpiece.

So, please, go visit David’s website, Unbearable Bears, and read up on his amazing webcomic! Thanks, Dangermaus! :)

ADDANAC CITY Is 400 Comics Strong!

AC 400th by Speearr

Yes, it’s official. ADDANAC CITY has reached 400 strips! If you haven’t read my super-sized special 400th comic yet, click here.

I was elated to receive this comic commemorating AC’s milestone from Speearr, who is the creator of the webcomic series Terence N. Tijuana. I think it’s hilarious!

If you get a chance, go check out Terence N. Tijuana. It is excellence in visual storytelling. Plus, Speearr’s got a wicked funny bone, to boot. Tell him George said hi. :D

Guest-Strip Weeks Update

Man-oh-man, the comic strips have been pouring in these past few weeks! I have received some hilarious contributions created by some of my long-time webcomic friends and also from some new creators on the block. It looks like this year’s Guest Strip Weeks are gonna be pretty amusing and eventful. :)

I just wanted to post this reminder to let all of you budding artists (and established ones too) out there know that I am still accepting guest-comics. I’m gonna start posting them as soon as I wrap up this current time-traveling storyline. It looks like that will be somewhere around the early part of June, so you still have time to create your ADDANAC CITY masterpiece.

You can find out some of the rules and stipulations below. I look forward to seeing what you come up with, so don’t be shy. And be sure to spread the word to your other artistic friends! :)

The Many Faces of Hank Addanac by last year's guests

1) The Guest-Strip must feature at least one Addanac City character. You can try your hand at more than that (feel free), but in order to be an AC guest comic, it must have an AC citizen somewhere in the strip.

2) Feel free to use your flagship character in the comic too. I love a good crossover, and it may make you feel more comfortable while creating an Addanac City comic.

3) The guest-comic you send to me must be no larger than 850 pixels wide if it’s in strip format, and no larger than 500 pixels wide if it’s in page format. And try to make sure the panels fit within screen-view so readers won’t have to do too much scrolling, please. :)

4) The guest-comic must be sent as a jpeg.

5) The strip must be somewhat funny. Also, keep in mind, that I stretch the envelope of taste around here, but I try not to destroy the package. I normally keep it somewhere around PG in these parts.

6) I’m gonna start running the strips I receive somewhere around the beginning of June, so you have time (although not too much). Most likely, I’ll run them in the order I get them, so you early birds can get started now. :)

Email your finished strip to me at addanaccity@gmail.com

If you have any questions whatsoever, feel free to contact me via email or in a comment, and I’ll be happy to reply to your query. Thanks again to all who will participate this year! :)
